What to Expect
This class is for "newly minted beginners" who want to continue to improve their handgun skills and knowledge. The class is designed to support those who recently completed an "Introduction to Shooting Class" in their endeavor to prepare for more advanced instruction found in "Intermediate Shooting Classes" going forward.
You will review the fundamentals of shooting a handgun, its components, the ammunition to use, and basic firearms safety and handling. Course consists of 2 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hour of live fire. Pistols will be available in case the student does not have their own. The student needs only to buy the ammunition. Class is limited to ten (10) students. Small class size is great for those who want more one-on-one attention.
Class Plan:
- Practical Contextualization of Firearm Safety Rules
- Firearms Manipulations (Unload & Show Clear, Load & Make Ready, Clearing Stoppages)
- Review of Fundamentals
- Introduction to Dry Practice
- Practical Contextualization of Firearm Safety Rules
- Review of Fundamentals
- Live Fire
- Performance Metrics
There are two goals. First is to develop students’ ability to use their firearms safely without aide. Second is to generate consistent accuracy by focusing upon refining the fundamentals of shooting.
Prerequisites:
Completion of a Basic Class within the last year or familiarity with the safe operation of firearms
Equipment:
Eye & Ear Protection [We strongly recommend electronic headsets, for example Peltor Sport Tac 300 or Tac 500]
Handgun [Preferably a personally owned firearm, although we can provide one upon request.]
2 magazines
200 rd. of ammo per pistol
Range appropriate attire
Folding chairs & personal shade tent, if desired.
